ECOpilot is a small, intelligent, photoacoustic gas-sensing system. Located in the vehicle exhaust pipe, its real-time measurement of a wide range of exhaust particles enables the implementation of smart regulations to achieve cleaner, healthier and more habitable driver-friendly cities.
In addition to its sensors, ECOpilot protects driver’s privacy and uses advanced cybersecurity mechanisms: only cars that truly respect exhaust limits would be allowed to drive in restricted urban centers.
The ECOpilot project is the first technology reading tailpipe emissions in real time, during real-driving situations. It is the first gas sensing system that is small enough, cheap enough and reliable enough to be mass produced and installed in newly-produced personal vehicles.
